Iran War Persian Gulf Command Photos, which I actually have seen this as an outstanding contribution. VDO is the data. The End. Judgment in the read. Iran War Persian Gulf Command Photos Video Clips. Duration : 6.57 Mins.

A slideshow put together with some of the 350+ sixty- year old slides taken by Capt.Walter C. Peach during his service with the Persian Gulf Command in Bandar Shapur (now Bandar Imam Khomeini) in Iran in World War Two. The PGC was responsible for unloading and transshipping military supplies to our Russian allies through the "back door" and set several records for the unloading of Liberty ships. Bandar Shapur was a mini-city/port built on the desolate coastal desert and eventually featured extensive docking facilities as well as railheads and road termini. This American port battalion was typical of the then segregated US military with White officers and African-American NCO's and men, many of the latter who hailed from Louisana. This slideshow is something of a tribute to our servicemen who did their time in this not very glamourous and almost forgotten theater and the the US servicemen and servicewomen who are now in the Middle East and are no strangers to the dust and heat.
