Bad Hersfeld, Germany was the home of the 14th Armored Recon Sq. (Suivez Moi) 1948-1972 and the 11th Armored Sq. (Allons) 1972-1993. At the end of the Cold War our 3rd Squadron border Kaserne was closed and returned to Germany. Committees representing former 3rd Squadron troopers of the 14th and 11th ACR have a commemorative stone which would honor the service of these soldiers. The idea for the memorial originated with Gaither Deitz, who served with the 3rd SQDN 14th ACR HQ Commo Unit from June 1966 to December 1968. We have the commemorative stone and brass plaque with an inscription in both English and German ready to be erected in front of the former HQ building at McPheeters Barracks in Bad Hersfeld in June 2009.
